Meet Richard Castle: he's a successful murder-mystery writer who just killed off his main character. However, it seems one of his fans liked his books just a bit too much when a copycat murderer started running around killing people as described in Castle's books. After being questioned by the police Richard joins forces with Detective Kate Beckett to solve this case. The two become partners and begin working together to solve other murders in New York along with other detectives Javier Esposito, Kevin Ryan and Captain Roy Montgomery, later Captain Victoria Gates. They also work with medical examiner Lanie Parish. Richard's family includes his mother Martha Rodgers, who was a broadway diva and his daughter Alexis.
He is brought in by the NYPD for questioning regarding a copy-cat murder based on one of his novels. There are many crime and murder in the following story. Castle Season 3 DVD begins with "A Deadly Affair". When Beckett and her team burst into an apartment on a murderer's trail, they see Castle standing over a dead woman's body holding a gun; Beckett arrests Castle as he asserts his innocence.
After a serial killer imitates the plots of his novels, successful mystery novelist Richard "Rick" Castle gets permission from the Mayor of New York City to tag along with an NYPD homicide investigation team for research purposes.
"Castle" marks a rare success in the 10 p.m. hour for a relatively new program, a time period that's been increasingly difficult for networks to program. Just hours after early ratings showed this week's "Castle" hitting new series highs in all major demos, ABC has renewed the Monday night drama for a third season. Benefitting from an unexpectedly strong "Dancing with the Stars" premiere, plus a heavily arced two-parter, "Castle" has set series highs each of the past two weeks. Last week, "Castle" scored a rare victory over a new "CSI: Miami," while Monday's episode averaged nearly 14.5 million viewers in early estimates, adding a 3.7 demo rating.
